Ashlesha Nakshatraआश्लेषा

Padas and their navamsaपाद
Each nakshatra divides into four padas of 3°20′. A pada is one navamsa, so the Moon’s pada refines the reading — it is what a chart uses to place you within Ashlesha.

Nature · स्वभाव
The nature of this nakshatra
Ashlesha is the embrace of the serpent — its name means "the clinging one", and its deity is the Naga. This is the most concentrated and psychologically penetrating of the water nakshatras: coiled, watchful, holding its energy close. Mercury gives a quick, clever, strategic mind, and the serpent gives it depth and a hypnotic quality. People with the Moon here read others acutely — they see motives and undercurrents that stay hidden from most — and they keep their own counsel. There is real intensity beneath a still surface, and a self-protective wariness born of feeling things very deeply, so what looks like calm is often a great deal held quietly in check.
Strengths · शक्ति
Where it is strong
The strength is penetrating insight. Ashlesha understands people and hidden dynamics better than almost any other placement; it is shrewd, resourceful and able to influence quietly. There is a natural gift for anything requiring focus, secrecy or the handling of subtle forces — from research to healing to strategy — and a persistence that keeps its grip on a problem until it yields. The Kundalini serpent is also the energy of spiritual awakening, and Ashlesha at its best turns its intensity toward genuine transformation and mystical depth.
Watch-outs · सावधानी
What to watch for
The serpent can bite or constrict. Ashlesha is prone to manipulation, secrecy that isolates, and a coiled resentment that holds grudges and repays slights coldly. It can be self-absorbed, clinging or venomous with words when hurt, and it can use its insight to control rather than to help. A tendency to withdraw into itself can make small hurts fester unseen. The work is to point the penetrating power outward in service rather than inward into suspicion — to be candid where it would rather be hidden, and to release what it has coiled around.
Work and relationships · कर्म व संबंध
Career and relationships
Tradition points Ashlesha toward work that rewards depth, secrecy and insight into people: psychology and counselling, investigation, medicine and pharmacology, research, mysticism, any strategic role behind the scenes. These people do well where perception matters more than display, and where reading what is unsaid is the whole skill. In relationships they are intense, loyal and private, and the growth edge is trust — letting people close without either clinging to them or defending against them.

How this page is worked out
The ruling graha, rashi span, dasha length and the four padas are the classical attributes of Ashlesha, computed from its position on the sidereal wheel with Lahiri ayanamsa. The written character is offered for reflection, drawn from the tradition’s significations — not a prediction about any individual life.
